Rafah: Over 40 people, including children, were killed in Gaza’s Rafah as Israel continues its military offensive against Palestine. According to a CNN report, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a series of strikes on Rafah, targeting a displacement camp and resulting in at least 45 deaths. The IDF confirmed the strike, stating that two Hamas commanders were targeted. However, they acknowledged reports that several civilians were also harmed due to the strike and subsequent fires.

Visuals from the scene show the aftermath of the attack, with residents left in shock and uncertainty. The international community has responded by uniting against the civilian casualties in Gaza. The United States, a consistent supporter of Israel, has urged Jerusalem to prioritize civilian safety.

On May 24, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered an immediate ceasefire in response to a case brought by South Africa accusing Israel of genocide. This order was supported by the League of Arab States on May 28, demanding an end to Israeli actions in Rafah. UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the Israeli strike, declaring that the “horror must stop” and emphasizing that there is no safe place in Gaza.

Celebrities worldwide have condemned the Israeli hostilities, with the slogan “All Eyes on Rafah” trending online. Over 33 million netizens, including numerous celebrities, have shown their support for innocent lives on platforms like Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the incident as a “tragic mistake” and announced that an investigation is underway. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, more than 36,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s offensive, which began after a Hamas attack on southern Israeli communities on October 7, resulting in approximately 1,200 Israeli deaths.
