Uttarkashi: In a significant breakthrough, all 41 workers who were trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand since November 12 have been successfully rescued. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with Union Minister of State General (Retd) VK Singh, personally met the rescued workers.

The tunnel faced a partial collapse on November 12, with debris blocking a 60-meter section on the Silkyara side, trapping the laborers within the under-construction structure.

Harpal Singh, Project Head of Zoji-la Tunnel, announced the successful rescue at 7:05 pm, highlighting the presence of Uttarakhand CM Dhami and Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Gen VK Singh during the breakthrough.

The rescue operation, involving NDRF and SDRF personnel, showcased exemplary morale and courage, earning high praise from CM Dhami.

Earlier today, Uttarakhand CM Dhami and other officials arrived at the Silkyara tunnel rescue site to oversee the ongoing efforts. The collaborative rescue mission marks a critical moment in ensuring the safety and well-being of the workers who were trapped due to the tunnel collapse.
