New Delhi: The Delhi Police Special Cell has successfully apprehended two individuals, accused in a murder case dating back to 2016, within the jurisdiction of the Ranhola police station.

The captured individuals, identified as Kabir Nat alias Shakil Khalifa and Bablu Nat, had been declared Proclaimed Offenders by the court in 2018 and had remained elusive for eight years.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police, renowned for its prowess in gathering intelligence to combat terrorism, monitor illicit activities, and apprehend criminals, played a pivotal role in the operation.

Providing insights into the 2016 incident, law enforcement authorities stated that information had been received at the Ranhola Police Station, Outer District, on July 3, 2016, concerning a body discovered in Som Bazar Gomti Garden.

“Upon preliminary investigation, the deceased was identified as Bandhu Rai, originally from District Samastipur, Bihar, and employed as a contractor in Delhi,” the police disclosed.

According to statements from family members, three individuals, namely Bablu Nat, Kabir Nat, and Mohd Aslam, hailing from the same village as the deceased, had sought Bandhu Rai’s assistance for labor work in Delhi.

Bandhu Rai had accommodated all three at his residence since his family had returned to their village in Bihar.

“In the intervening night of July 2-3, 2016, all three accused consumed alcohol together, leading to a confrontation during which they hatched a plan to murder Bandhu Rai and steal his money,” police elaborated.

While two of the apprehended suspects restrained Bandhu Rai, the third, Mohammad Aslam, strangled him and pilfered money from his pocket before fleeing the scene.

Subsequently, all three accused individuals went into hiding following Bandhu Rai’s demise.

Post-mortem examination results revealed that Bandhu Rai had died from asphyxia due to manual strangulation.

Consequently, a murder case was registered under sections 302/174A/34 of the IPC at Ranhola police station.

Despite being on the run since 2016, all three accused individuals, namely Kabir Nat (25), Bablu Nat (27), and Mohd Aslam, managed to evade capture.

On March 22 of this year, specific intelligence was received by Inspector Sandeep Dabas’s team, indicating the presence of the two murder case suspects near Najafgarh Anaj Mandi.

Promptly, a team was assembled and dispatched to Najafgarh, where a successful operation led to the apprehension of both suspects near Najafgarh Anaj Mandi.

Following their capture, Kabir and Bablu provided detailed accounts of the incident.

An ongoing investigation is underway, with authorities diligently pursuing the search for the third accused individual.
