Rahul Gandhi expresses concern on Joshimath situation

Dehradun: During his continuing Bharat Jodo Yatra on Sunday, the former president of the Congress party Rahul Gandhi spoke with prominent geologists and environmentalists. During the Yatra, he spoke with Shekhar Pathak, BS Butola, and Prakash Upadhayaya and asked for advice on how to save Joshimath. According to information provided by Mathura Dutt Joshi, vice president of the organization, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara and senior leader Manish Khanduri were instrumental in setting up Gandhi’s meeting with scientists.

He stated that Rahul expressed his deep concern about the Joshimath disaster, which was caused by land subsidence in Joshimath, and that immediate steps should be taken to save the city, which has historical and religious significance, as well as rehabilitation of affected people.

According to Rahul, the current situation in Joshimath is quite horrifying. Interacting with PCC president Mahara, the former Congress president exhorted party workers to provide all possible assistance to disaster victims. Joshi stated that geologists and environmentalists have also expressed their concern about the Joshimath situation and have suggested that major construction work and tunnel digging in the area around Joshimath be halted immediately.

PCC president Mahara and senior leader Manish Khanduri thanked Rahul Gandhi for empathizing with the people of Joshimath.
