PM Vishwakarma Scheme launched across India

The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, a new initiative launched by the Indian government to support traditional artisans and craftspeople, was launched on September 17, 2023, which is Viswakarma Jayanti.

Events were organized at about seventy locations across the country to spread awareness about the scheme among potential beneficiaries. One such event was organized in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Guest at the event was Devusinh Chauhan, the Minister of State for Communications of India. He said that the scheme would help to promote the rich cultural heritage of traditional crafts of India and assist artisans in transitioning to the formal economy.

Gudivada Amarnath, the Minister for Industries, Infrastructure, Investment and Commerce of Andhra Pradesh, said that the scheme was a welcome move by the Prime Minister of India and would help to boost the traditional economy of India.

Suneetha Gandham, CEO of Gandham Agro and Gandham Flora, said that the scheme would help to uplift skilled artisans in the unorganized sector.

Several artisans, skilled workers, and craftsmen were felicitated by the guests on this occasion.

Later, the audience was shown a live video link of the Prime Minister’s address to various locations across the country, where he gave brief details of the scheme and its benefits.
