Overhead wire breaks on Konkan route, 6 trains stopped

Mumbai, 25 November (BT): Konkan Rail service was disrupted after an overhead wire snapped between Diwankhawati and Vinhere stations in Ratnagiri district in the early hours of Friday.

Bharatiya Janata Party state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule is stuck in Konkan Kanya Express. This train is standing at Veer Railway Station for the last five hours. Six trains including Tutari, Mangalore Express and Madgaon Express have halted at different stations on the route of Konkan Railway. Industries Minister Uday Samant cancelled his visit to Ratnagiri district.

According to the spokesperson of Konkan Railway, efforts are being made to send these trains to their destination with diesel engines. Meanwhile, overhead wire repair work is in progress.
