NEW DELHI: The mobile health initiative Kilkari has been inaugurated with localized content in Gujarat and Maharashtra, underscoring the government’s dedication to bolstering health infrastructure and services through the extensive reach of mobile phones. The launch, officiated virtually by Union Ministers of State for Health S P Singh Baghel and Bharati Pravin Pawar, marks a significant step in advancing maternal and child health care in the two states.

Kilkari, a centralized interactive voice response (IVR) based mobile health service, delivers 72 tailored audio messages weekly to families’ mobile phones. These messages, spanning from the second trimester of pregnancy to the child’s first year, provide vital information on pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare, catering directly to the needs of expectant mothers and caregivers.
