Melbourne: Following their four-wicket win against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Melbourne on Sunday, India holds the record for most international matches in a calendar year. In this case, India has broken the record of the Australian team.

Australia had previously held the record for most wins in a calendar year in 2003. Australia had registered 38 wins in 47 matches in 2003. India now has 39 wins in 56 matches this year.

It has been an excellent year so far for the Indian team. India started the year with a home series against West Indies, where they won both ODIs and T20Is 3–0. After this India played a home series against Sri Lanka. They won the T20 series 3–0 and the Test series 2–0.

Team India then played a five-match T20I series against South Africa at home, the series was drawn 2-2 after the final match was washed out by rain.

The team then toured England and played one remaining Test, which India lost. However, India won the ODI and T20I series with the same margin of 2-1.

India then defeated Ireland 2-0 in the T20I series. After this the Indian team went on the tour of West Indies. Where, India won the T20 series 3-0 and the ODI series 4-1.

India then went to Zimbabwe and defeated the hosts 3-0 in the ODI series.

The team did not perform well in the Asia Cup 2022 and could not make it to the final. Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan.

Australia then toured India for the T20 series. India won the T20 series 2-1. This was followed by a 2-1 win against South Africa in ODI and T20I series.
