G-20 chairmanship, matter of pride for India: PM

New Delhi, 27 November (BT): Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that it is a matter of pride for India to get the chairmanship of G-20. India has got a big responsibility in the Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal. The Prime Minister was sharing his views in the 95th edition of his monthly radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. He said that the country is moving towards the 100th episode of Mann Ki Baat. Connecting with the people of the country is an important program for him, he said.

The Prime Minister said that the people of the country are associating themselves with the G-20. Yeldhi Hariprasad Garu, a weaver from Rajanna Sircilla district of Telangana, has sent me the G-20 logo by weaving it. He said that he was surprised to see this wonderful gift, Hariprasad has such mastery in his art that he attracts everyone’s attention.

He said that Hariprasad has also sent him a letter along with this symbol. In this, he has written that it is a matter of great pride for India to host the G-20 summit next year. In the happiness of this achievement of the country, he has prepared this symbol of G-20 with his own hands, said Modi.

The Prime Minister said that the G-20 accounts for two-thirds of the world’s population, three-fourth of global trade and 85 per cent of global GDP. He said that one can imagine that after three days from now i.e. from December 1, India is going to preside over such a big group, such a powerful group. What a great opportunity this has come for India, for every Indian, said the Prime Minister, the chairmanship of G-20 has come as a great achievement for the country, while reiterating that the country has to make full use of this opportunity and focus on world welfare.
