Al Khor: Costa Rica will face Germany on December 1, at the El Bayt Stadium. This match will be important for both teams. Stéphanie Frappart of France will become the first woman in FIFA World Cup history to referee a men’s tournament.

Frappart will be joined by assistant referees Nuja Bacque of Brazil and Karen Diaz Medina of Mexico for Thursday’s crucial Group E match, according to FIFA.

However, it will not be the first time that 38-year-old French referee Frappert has written her name in football history. Frappart was also the first woman to referee in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.

In an official statement released by FIFA, Frappert said, The men’s World Cup is the most important sporting event in the world. I was the first female referee in France and in Europe, so I know how to deal with it.

Pierluigi Collina, chairman of the FIFA Referees Committee, said, Frappart was not chosen as a FIFA referee because she is a woman. She was chosen because she can officiate any game.
