Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun its pre-poll campaign in West Uttar Pradesh ahead of the general elections in 2024. Because the saffron party fared poorly in west UP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, it launched its campaign ahead of schedule.
The party’s entire attention is on the 4,750 shakti kendras that have been established in West UP in preparation for the next elections. Western UP is made up of 330 mandals and 4,750 sectors. More party workers now have access thanks to the new 4,750 Shakti Kendras. There are 30,000 booths in the west UP. Public representatives have been invited to visit 100 booths and collect feedback from recipients of government initiatives in 2024 as part of the BJP’s booth empowerment drive.
The Shakti Kendras have helped the party nurture voters by hosting the Prime Minister’s Mann Ki Baat, collecting input on government programs, and connecting with ordinary citizens. Through the kendras, the BJP is focusing on farmers, youth, and women in particular. A three-day Kisan Morcha training class in Hastinapur, Meerut district, and a three-day Yuva Morcha training session in Agra were also recently held.
According to party sources, top workers and office bearers have been given with the job of monitoring sectors formed inside the organisation by making them power centres.
Previously, the mandal (divisional) level was maintained active in order to reach the last worker, but according to the micro-plan for 2024, all activities are now finished at the sector level rather than the mandal-level. According to the facts, the BJP lost the West UP seats of Saharanpur, Bijnor, Nagina, Amroha, Sambhal, Moradabad, and Rampur in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP had to lose numerous seats in districts like as Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Sambhal, and Rampur in the 2022 assembly elections. As a result, it is now focusing on the seats that have been lost. In addition, the BJP is buoyant after winning by-elections to the Lok Sabha seats of Rampur and Azamgarh.
Similarly, western Uttar Pradesh’s standing has improved as a result of the BJP’s UP unit’s preparation. Dharampal Singh of Bijnor’s elevation to a prominent position within the organisation, such as State General Secretary, indicates a link to this. Until now, the Bijnor area has been left out of crucial positions.
