Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir: The Jammu and Kashmir government, in collaboration with the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) and the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), organized a workshop aimed at promoting fishing culture in Kashmir. The workshop sought to educate and empower youth to adopt fish farming as a viable livelihood option.

A significant number of participants from Fish Farmers Producers Organizations (FFPOs) attended the awareness program, where they gained valuable insights from fisheries department experts. Informative lectures and engaging documentaries provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of fish farming practices, business unit establishment, and available grants and schemes.

The workshop emphasized the potential of fish farming to generate employment opportunities and contribute to the economic development of Kashmir. By encouraging youth to embrace fish farming, the government aims to strengthen the region’s fisheries sector and foster sustainable livelihoods for its citizens.
