Hisar: Rakhigarhi, in Haryana’s Hisar district, was a significant Harappan civilization site. It is one of Harappan civilization’s major settlements. According to Dr. Sanjay Kumar Manjul, Joint Director General of the Archaeological Survey of India, there are seven mounds at the site, with excavations underway at Mound 1, Mound 3, and Mound 7.

According to him, the site is too large, spanning over 3,500 hectares. The Harappan Civilization was classified into three cultural periods: early 3300 BC to 2600 BC, mature 2600 BC to 1900 BC, and late 1900 BC to 1700 BC. Diverse mounds feature different depositions, according to Dr. Manjul, demonstrating cultural continuity. The Centre has designated five iconic sites, including Rakhigarhi.
