BT Correspondent, Mumbai: New Age Production Houses ‘Content Engineers‘ and ‘Dancing Shiva Productions’ unveiled the first look of Pratik Gandhi and correspondence starrer ‘Phule’, a mega Hindi biopic directed by Anant Narayan Mahadevan. The film celebrates the unsung heroes of India.
Content Engineers and Dancing Shiva Productions have announced their first collaboration with powerful artists Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha. Both the actors will play the role of social activist and reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Govindrao Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule. Both of these great personalities were far ahead of their time in their vision and approach. The Hindi feature film will be written and directed by National Award winning director Anant Narayan Mahadevan and will be released worldwide.

The first look of ‘Phule’ has been released today on the 195th birth anniversary of Mahatma Phule. The image is very intriguing as both the symbol and the letter bear striking resemblance to Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule. The activist-reformer actively campaigned against untouchability and the practice of caste, founded the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society of Truth Seekers) and demanded equal rights for the lower classes. Savitribai and Mahatma Phule were also pioneers of women’s education.
Enthusiastic Pratik Gandhi says, “It is a great honor to carry the legacy of Mahatma Phule to the world. ‘Phule’ is a film based on my first biography and there were many challenges in playing this character, but it is an indisputable fact that he was an inspiring Indian leader; This is my dream role and I look forward to playing it. I remember saying yes immediately after hearing the narration. Some of the characters come to you instinctively and I am glad that Infinite Sir has brought this film to me. It is wonderful that Content Engineers and Dancing Shiva have taken on the responsibility of bringing an undiscovered part of the lives of Mahatma Jyotiba and Savitribai Phule to the masses. ”

Enthusiastic correspondence with this character expressed his feelings on the project. He said, “I grew up in Shillong, Meghalaya, which is the pride of a matriarchal society, so gender equality is very close to my heart. Savitribai joined hands with her husband in 1848 to start the first indigenous school for girls in Pune. Mahatma Phule also encouraged widow remarriage and together they established an orphanage to prevent feticide. It’s a film that will stay with me for a long time to come. ”

Writer, actor and director Anant Mahadev has made a acclaimed biopic like ‘Me Sindhutai Sapkal’. In which the life-journey of a social activist who has become the basis of homeless orphans is shown. So in ‘Gaur Hari Dastan’ he told the story of a Freedon fighter who has been fighting against the government for 32 years. ‘Doctor Rakhmabai’ is based on the life of India’s first female doctor. And Anant Narayan gave Mahadev the last project called ‘My Ghat’ and ‘BitterSweet’ which was highly praised by the critics.
Anant Mahadevan says, “There are many inspiring stories in our country which are still unknown or have been hidden by historians for some reason. Films are a great way to connect the younger generation with this unsung hero. Jyotiba and Savitri Phule are the torchbearers of the social revolution in India and it is difficult to find good artists and teams from this team and these artists who are associated with the project. ‘Phule’ starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekha, directed by Anant Narayan Mahadevan, Dr. Produced by Raj Kishore Ghavre, Pranay Chokshi, Saurabh Verma, Utpal Acharya, Anuya Chauhan Kudecha and Riteish Kudecha, is set to release in 2023.
