Blast in Samba before Modi’s visit to JK

Jammu: An explosion took place in a field in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district on Sunday morning just hours kilometres from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit on April 24.

Villagers in the area reported hearing a loud explosion.

As soon as the suspected explosion was reported, police arrived on the scene and started conducting an investigation. The police have speculated that the incident was caused by a lightning strike or a meteorite.

Police said that the blast took place in a field in the Lalial area of Bishnah in the Samba district nearly 12 km from the place where Modi is scheduled to visit. Police suspect that the explosion was caused by lightning. The entire area has been cordoned off.

Vigilance has been increased at the public meeting place. SP Head Quarter Ramnish Gupta, SDPO RSpura Surendra Singh, and SHO Bishnah Vinod Kundal have reached the blast site.

After the abrogation of Article 370, Modi will hold a public meeting for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir .
