Mumbai News: Triveni Developers Accused of Swindling Buyers of ₹3.39 Crore

Mumbai, a case has been lodged against real estate company Triveni Developers, led by father-son duo Ashok Jethwa and Mihir Jethwa. The complaint alleges fraudulent activities involving an 84-year-old man who was swindled of ₹80 lakh, along with three others who lost varying amounts – ₹35 lakh, ₹1.74 crore, and ₹50 lakh.

The complainant, Rameshchand Joshi, residing in Borivali East and employed as an accountant in the MJ market, initiated the transaction in 2015. Interested in purchasing a 1 BHK flat on the 8th floor of Neel Akash co-op-housing, a Triveni builder project, Joshi finalized the deal at ₹80 lakh.

Initially paying ₹2.5 lakhs for registration and stamp duty on March 17, 2015, Joshi and his daughters further disbursed ₹45 lakhs two days later, with the remaining ₹35 lakhs settled via a cheque. Despite assurances of flat possession by August 2016, the developer repeatedly delayed the process, citing government permissions.

An MoU was eventually signed on April 20, 2021, establishing December 31, 2021, as the possession deadline. The agreement stipulated that if the developer failed to meet this date, they would reimburse ₹80 lakh to Joshi. However, the possession did not materialize, leading to a new MoU with a June 30 deadline, which also went unfulfilled.
