Noida: BJP’s Mahesh Sharma secured a decisive victory in the Lok Sabha elections from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, with a margin of 5.59 lakh votes. This marks his third consecutive win from this constituency.

According to the Election Commission’s website at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, Sharma received 8,57,829 votes, accounting for 59.69% of the total 14,37,244 votes cast. His closest competitor, Samajwadi Party’s Mahendra Singh Nagar, garnered 2,98,357 votes (20.76%), while Bahujan Samaj Party’s Rajendra Singh Solanki obtained 2,51,615 votes (17.51%).

Twelve other candidates, including Independents, participated in the race, but none secured more than 4,000 votes. The ‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) option received 10,324 votes, or 0.72%, placing it in fourth position.

Sharma’s previous victories in Gautam Buddh Nagar came in 2014 by a margin of 2.80 lakh votes and in 2019 by 3.37 lakh votes. This was his fourth contest for the seat, having lost in 2009.

The Gautam Buddh Nagar constituency encompasses the assembly segments of Noida, Dadri, Jewar, Khurja, and Sikandrabad. Out of the 26.75 lakh registered voters, 53.66% cast their votes when the constituency went to the polls on April 26.
