New Delhi: In a decisive move to counter the Pakistan Army’s attempts to reignite terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army, along with other security agencies, has strategically redeployed troops and special forces to the higher reaches south of the Pir Panjal range. These forces are conducting search and destroy operations to neutralize terrorists operating in the region.

More than 10 battalions and over 500 Special Forces operatives have been positioned in these challenging terrains to address the increasing terrorist activities reportedly supported by the Pakistan Army, according to sources within the security agencies.

The Indian Army has taken a proactive stance, relocating troops to comb the forested areas and targeting terrorists hiding in natural caves and underground hideouts. The objective is to neutralize these threats at the higher altitudes, preventing them from descending into civilian areas and attacking both civilians and security forces, the sources added.

To bolster these efforts, the human intelligence network in the area has been enhanced with the induction of new police personnel, while central police forces have increased their presence and operational activities.

In response to recent casualties among Indian forces, attributed to the reduced troop presence due to redeployments in the northern border regions, the security apparatus in the Jammu division, including Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur, and Doda districts, has been significantly reinforced. Armored vehicles and mine-protected vehicles have been introduced to further strengthen the forces.

Security protocols and standard operating procedures have been revised across the Jammu division, with all troops on high alert to preempt any potential terrorist attacks. Local over-ground workers and sympathizers of terrorists have been identified, and measures are being implemented to curtail their support through area domination and other countermeasures.

The top brass of the Indian Army has recently reviewed the situation in the area and briefed the nation’s leadership on the ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
