Haryana Deputy CM Flags Off 40 Firefighting Bikes, Stresses System Repairs

Panchkula, January 8, 2024 — Today, Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala, kickstarted a vital initiative by flagging off 40 firefighting bikes from seven districts at the Public Works Department Rest House in Panchkula. An additional 60 bikes, a generous contribution from Hero Motor Corporation under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), will soon be distributed to the remaining districts.

During the event,  Dushyant Chautala received insights from Dr. Yashpal Singh, the Director General of Fire and Emergency Services, regarding the department’s operations and challenges. Engaging in discussions with fire officials from various districts, including Karnal, Panipat, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Jind, and the Headquarters, the Deputy CM stressed the importance of enhancing the firefighting system and provided valuable suggestions.

Addressing the urgency of the situation,  Dushyant Chautala urged fire officials to prioritize the repair and maintenance of fire systems in accordance with the department’s guidelines. He specifically directed inspections of key areas such as educational institutions, universities, colleges, petrol stations, industries, and marriage banquet halls across the districts.

In an effort to ensure the safety of industrial units, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed a thorough check of fire systems in both large and small units. For faulty fire systems in industrial establishments, he mandated inspections and prompt repairs. Emphasizing accountability, he stated that if any institution fails to rectify its fire system within 30 days of notice from the fire department, appropriate action should be taken.

Mr. Dushyant Chautala also urged the Director General of Fire and Emergency Services to estimate the costs for repairing dilapidated buildings within the department. Additionally, he directed the purchase of 25 red Boleros for all districts to facilitate a timely response and prevent untoward incidents.

The event was attended by dignitaries including Additional Deputy Commissioner,  Varsha Khangwal, Technical Deputy Director, Gulshan Kalra, Hero CSR Senior Manager, Rakesh Patel, and other esteemed guests.
