Bombay Tribune, Panaji, Nov 7 – The long-awaited inauguration of the renovated Kala Academy building, a prominent cultural center in Panaji, is set to take place on November 10, with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant presiding over the ceremony. The restoration work at Kala Academy has been ongoing since 2021, and the reopening of the building marks a significant cultural milestone for the state.

State Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude announced the news on Tuesday, highlighting the building’s readiness to welcome the general public once again. Moreover, the Kala Academy will serve as the venue for the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI), scheduled from November 20 to 28 this year.

In a recent incident, a portion of an open-air auditorium within the Kala Academy complex collapsed while undergoing repairs in July. While restoration efforts for the auditorium continue, the rest of the building has been deemed safe for use.

The reopening of the Kala Academy building and its role as the host venue for IFFI are anticipated with excitement and are expected to further enrich Goa’s vibrant cultural landscape.
